I thought of one bit of interesting information that I haven’t shared yet. The Vietnamese strategy for conserving energy is to shut off the electricity in different areas of the city on different days. This happens once or twice a week in each area. The power goes out around 7am and comes back on around 5pm. I have never really experienced having to live without electricity (especially in a place where air conditioning and fans are CRUCIAL) and although I find it annoying I think it is a positive experience. It is part of learning and adapting to a new place and culture and being flexible. Life does not end without electricity. I think everything about living here is going to contribute to the person I am and will become. Even something simple like not having electricity twice a week.
